Work with us

Do you want to help change the lives of women?

We welcome enquiries from potential staff or volunteers for our specialist female-only supported accomodation service. The service is already providing life-changing person-centred support through purpose-built supported housing. We have a small team which is instrumental in the delivery of the service. TK offers a rare opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art service.

We currently have the following vacancies:

ON-CALL DUTY WORKERS

£20 per shift plus £12.60 per hour

We are increasing our on-call team members to provide out-of-hours telephone support from home and occasional visits to the Hope Centre. Currently the Hope Centre in Witnesham is staffed 7 days per week from 08:00 to 17:00 to provide in-person support to residents. Occasionally residents may raise an issue or require help outside these hours. Therefore, we plan to strengthen our team of on-call employees who can provide cover from 17.00 – 08.00 overnight and 09.00 – 17.00 on bank holidays. If a resident calls for support during these periods, the on-call employee will pick up the phone message, assess whether any urgent action is required, and if so, take the required action: providing telephone support to the resident, visiting the Hope Centre, or escalating the matter to a TK manager. Some on-call employees will also be required to visit the Hope Centre to perform a brief visit and safety check on Bank Holidays.

On-call employees can be based at home and will be required to keep the work mobile active for the duration of the shift, although they need not work during each shift unless they receive a phone call or are required to visit the Hope Centre. As such, on-call staff can continue their normal social and family activities (including sleeping) provided they are able to respond to a phone call within 15 minutes, and to visit the Hope Centre, if required, within 45 minutes of an urgent request. This is therefore an ideal role for someone working in the care, health or support sectors who would like extra income by taking occasional phone calls and making infrequent support visits when they are not at their main employment.

TK will pay a £20 allowance for each shift period for which on-call employees are available to take calls, and a further £12.60 per hour for any time spent handling calls or visiting the site. Enhanced rates apply to some bank holidays. Employees will be provided with a work mobile smart phone. Employees will typically be expected to cover 10 shifts per month, receiving £200 on-call allowance, plus hourly rate.  Applicants will be required to live local to The Hope Centre in order to respond in a timely manner to any call outs.

We also offer flexible shift patterns, employee assistance programme, full training and support, and a great team and environment to work in, with the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of women in need.

If you are interested in applying, please call 01473 354200 or email admin@talithakoum.org.uk to request an application form and job description.
