Do you want to help change the lives of women?

 

We welcome enquiries from potential staff or volunteers for our specialist female-only supported accomodation service. The service is already providing life-changing person-centred support through purpose-built supported housing. We have a small team which is instrumental in the delivery of the service. TK offers a rare opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art service.

We currently have the following vacancies:

 

                           Full  Time Female Support Worker required

         (to work 5 out of 7 days on a rota basis, 37.5 hours per week)

​​Core Duties

  • Support residents to settle into the community of TK, feeling valued members.

  • Arrange appointments and engage with other agencies as appropriate in particular those to do with health and wellbeing and debt management.

  • Accompany residents to appointments and offer advocacy support as appropriate (including support to access legal advice, financial advice, advice relating to debt or past housing issues, access to mental health support, helping women access specialist support services and re-engage with public health services when needed)

  • Help residents to develop self-esteem and skills to live independently

  • Build professional working relationships with TK colleagues and professional partner organisations (statutory bodies and voluntary and private sector organisations) and help our residents access these individuals and organisations where possible.

  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times while speaking with residents and professionals to build relationships of trust with consistent and reliable boundaries.

  • To act as a role model to TK volunteers, residents and other team members.

  • Attend training as required to expand skills for maintaining safety, safeguarding, wellbeing and upholding self esteem of residents and to ensure safe and proper service delivery.

  • Attend regular one-to-one support, assessment and appraisal with line manager.

  • Familiarise and comply with TK Polices and procedures.

  • Be actively involved in routine staff hand-overs and team meetings

  • To comply with all principles of confidentiality.

  • To participate in second on-call duties.

  • To work 5 out of 7 days on a rota basis to include some weekends

Reports to:    The Hope Centre Manager, Tina Prince.

Person Specification.

Essential:

  • Proven experience of working with Principles of confidentiality.

  • Proven experience of working with clear boundaries.

  • Proven experience of offering a Professional service to those in vulnerable situations.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication/listening skills

  • Experience of working with vulnerable women in supported housing.

  • Ability to function as a team member

  • Understand own limitations and work within personal boundary limits

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure

  • Computer skills for report writing and updating records

  • Ability to work on your own and to show initiative

  • Honest, trustworthy and reliable

  • Committed to equal rights and opportunities, and supporting diversity

  • Sensitivity to the Christian ethos of the community and positively supporting residents of any faith or none.

  • Driver and car owner.

Desirable:

  • Flexibility with planning and ability to adapt to change.

  • Experience of team work.

​Volunteers 

Unpaid, Part Time, Based in Witnesham (near Ipswich)

Can you spare a few hours per month to provide support at The Hope Centre? Various roles are available for volunteers to help with the regular activities on site and to share meals. Trustees

We are looking for experienced people who share our vision of TK to become trustees. We have six trustees who normally meet six times a year, though there are intermediate discussions. In particular, we are looking for people who have skills or experience in the following areas:

·       working with vulnerable adults or young people

·       the wider care sector

·       Pastoral care or counselling

·       PR & Communications
